Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse - Girls Varsity Assistant Coach Position
Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse is currently seeking a Varsity Assistant Coach as well as a Youth Team 5/6 Coach for the Girl’s program. Since the Girl’s program was started in 2017, it has grown and offers a competitive opportunity for students attending Lovejoy High School as well as students in neighboring high schools without a lacrosse program. Our focus is on the fundamentals of lacrosse, essential skills of team play in a competitive environment, the importance of proper physical conditioning and most importantly, good sportsmanship and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field. DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
Assist the Varsity High School Head Coach in management and development of the team as well as coach the Youth Girl’s 5/6 team. This is a paid, coaching-only position, with the expectation of coaching during the fall and spring seasons. We offer competitive pay, comparable to coaches with similar experience in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. In addition to coaching duties, the Varsity Assistant Coach will serve as a mentor and as an advisor to the team and represent the program to the broader lacrosse community in North Texas as well as the State of Texas when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • Strong leadership and communication skills to work collaboratively with the Varsity team Head Coach as well as to properly motivate the girls lacrosse players • Support the Varsity team Head Coach in implementing a vision for developing the high school team as well as the skill set needed for the rising youth team players • In depth knowledge of the game • Self-motivator with a positive coaching style • Previous experience as an assistant and/or youth coach preferred
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES • Serve as an ambassador for the Lovejoy Lacrosse Program • Assist in coaching the Girls High School team as well as the Youth girls 5/6 team • Support the recruitment of players for Lovejoy Lady Leopards Lacrosse • Adhere to the Lovejoy Lacrosse Club Coaches Code of Conduct • Remain in good standing with USA Lacrosse, TGHSLL, TGYLL and LJISD • Work with the Varsity Head Coach to Hold Try-It Clinics prior to the start of the fall and spring seasons • Work with the Varsity Head Coach to organize and conduct a summer camp for the youth girls • Implement consistent practice plans for both the high school and youth teams • Plan and implement off-season and pre-season position specific skills and conditioning of players • Ensure players learn all aspects of the game and create opportunities to develop these skills both at practices and at games • Participate in Club fundraising efforts • Attend Lovejoy Lacrosse Club Board meetings as requested • Mentor high school players as needed • Other duties may be assigned by the President and Club Board
